Resin 3D Printing

The only real limitation when using regular FDM 3D printers for building and designing scale models is surface finish, you can often clearly see the layer lines and removing them by using putty and sanding is often more work than its worth...... STEP IN RESIN PRINTING
3D printing has exploded in popularity over the past 5 years and it continues to grow.

This is the Anycubic Photon DLP 3D resin printer, I recently bought it through AliExpress however it can be found on just about any of the major platforms like Amazon and eBay. It's relatively cheap in comparison to similar printers and if you're making high detailed scale models then I definitely recommend this printer.

All of the models are printed in 1:87th scale.... (ho scale)

So far I've made a bunch of different models while I test and film the tutorial video I'm working on and so far I'm more than impressed.
There are some small limitations and imperfections that I'll talk more about when I write my comprehensive review all of which can be dealt with or minimized with careful planning and object design and none of which have deterred me from using this awesome little printer.

This printer will make many more appearances in future videos especially for making very small details to compliment other models.
Also after I finish filming the 3D printer video tutorial I'll be working on a resin mold making and casting tutorial on making and casting this shipping container (Also made using the resin 3D printer).

Be sure to stay tuned as the filming process has just been completed and I'll be posting the tutorial video in about 4 days time.
I'm very excited for the future of model building especially when products and tools like these 3D printer are being developed and improved upon ever few months.

G'day Luke.

Wow, those examples are blowing my mind, hard to believe you are able to get results like that from a desk top machine. It appears equal to anything I'm currently getting shapeways to print for me. I will be interested in any reports of the materials durability and suitability to everyday use, for example, handling rolling stock.
I will be watching this next video very closely this will have much timely relevance to my specific modelling needs. If the quality and detail is as good as what your blog photos are demonstrating then this 3D printer will enable me to get the detail I require for my models without having to wait so long to get masters back from shapeways. Hopefully it will be cheaper as well. I'm also about to start a learning curve on mould making and resin casting. It would appear that the stars have alligned for me with the next release of wou're video being particularly relevant for me. Good to see you back in QLD again, hopefully you will take an interest in the QR outline as a modelling choice. QR modelling is going through a very interesting period right now, it is very small but is set to grow as there is a large demand for QR related products. The more products available the more that will come to the hobby, and that's what I hope my involvement will be, if life doesn't keep getting in the way of course.

Regards,
Steve.

A funeral booklet is the printed document that is given out at funeral services that outlines the events in the funeral or memorial service and might contain a brief Biography about the life achievements of the recently departed. The Funeral Booklet may also contain a mention of speakers of the various readings and maybe a prayer or a hymn along with some photos that are of happier times. It is also used as a memento to remember the recently departed long after they are laid to rest.

Hello Luke,
i follow you tutorials from the beginning and i like it and learning a lot every time
In your tutorials u used several 3d printers and thanks to your tutorials i bought a Anucubic Photon S.
I also bought a wash and cure station from Anycubic.
Using the wash and cure station makes working with resin a lot cleaner.
Mayby you want one as well.
Looking forward to a new tutorial, what you are making is so beatifull

Regards,
Harmen
